In the reading passage, the author mainly talks three meaasures to control velvet trees in in Hawaii, and however, this is refuted by the speaker in the listening passage.

To begin with, according to the reading passage, the author suggests velvet trees can be pull out or cut down. By contrast, the lecturer disagrees with it and thinks excavating for many years will cause parasites-require chemical substances,which is harmful to the new trees.

In addition, the reading passage velvet trees can be used some kind of fungus to make leaves fall off by themselves. However, the speaker holds the opposite opinion that those infectious fungus need wet condition-weather in Hawaii is not wet-occasional droughts-limited.

Lastly, the writer in the reading part believes people's clothes can be cleaned. By comparison, seeds are the switch food for a kind of bird-drop seeds as their wastes, so new trees will be grown, which can cause low efficiencies.
