Describe an important occasion when you were late.

You should say: when this happened

I suppose must have been about five or six years ago ，at that day I was going to take my driving test，a few days before test,4 of our candidates decided to go there together because theexamination hall is far distant, which would took more than 1hr by car. on that day I was late because I had been so nervous last night that Icould not fell asleep，had to keep waiting me before I arrived。

even though they did reproach me for being late，I knew that there would be sort of dire consequences had I arrived a bitlater，for example, 2 of us had been already working, and they had to apply forleave every time they came for training，another candidate was a student and fully exploited his vacation to come back to CN andtake that driving test，so he probably would miss the planned test and go back without thedriving licence that he should have obtained, and those 2 employed people wouldhave to be granted another leave had I been late on that day

我要告诉你的经历是一年前我曾经在一门重要课程的考试中迟到过。那门课程是高数，直接影响我能否拿到那一年的奖学金。考试时间被设置在早上的8点半，持续两个小时。但当我在床上睁开眼睛的时候就已经是9点了。顾不上刷牙，洗脸，我穿上衣服就往考场跑，并终于在9点15的时候到达。

The experience I am going to talk about is that I was late for the final exam of mathematics, an important course in my senior year, whose result would decide whether I got the scholarship. The exam began at 8.30 in the morning and would last for 2 hours. But when I opened my eyes in the bed, it was already 9 o’clock. With no time to wash my face and brush my teeth, I put on my clothes, rushed to the examination room and arrived at a quarter past nine.

我只剩下75分钟来完成这场考试。这基本上是不可能完成的任务，我仿佛看到奖学金离我而去的样子。考试过程中，我不停的责怪自己，为什么昨天晚上熬夜到那么晚?为什么明明知道自己有可能会睡过，却不多定几个闹钟?我在考场上快要哭了出来。

So I only got 75 minutes left to finish the test, which was almost an impossible task. I could see the scholarship had walked away. During the test, I could not stop blaming myself. Why did I stay up so late the night before and why did not I set several alarms in case I missed one? I almost cried out.

幸运的是，老师同情我的经历，在考试结束之后又给了我半个小时的时间，让我能够答完试卷。我心里十分感激，并发誓以后再也不会犯这样的错误了。

Fortunately, my teacher sympathized with my feelings and gave me another half an hour to complete the test. I was so grateful to him and promised I would never make a mistake like this again.

雅思口语范文3：

As year ago, in order to save money, i bought a cheap flight for my trip to Shanghai. The flight was to take off at 7 am, which was very early. I got up at half past four to get ready. The airport was about a one-hour drive from where I lived. So i could have caught my plane. Unfortunately, the taxi i ordered from the day before arrived about 20 minutes late to pick me up. So even though the driver drove very fast, we arrived at the terminal at around 6.30. The personnel told me that the boarding gate for my flight had already been closed. I was very frustrated when I heard this. I called the airline and they told me I could pay an extra fee of about 300 yuan for another flight which was to take off 3 hours later. There was nothing I could do but to pay that money. So, I have never bought any early fights. I don’t want to be in a rush and risk missing my flight again.
